HOW MUCH MONEY DO YOU NEED
Most of the restaurants take credit cards, but it’s getting little bit hard during check out at the restaurant, as sometimes they don’t take multiple cards payment (sometimes they can take just 5 cards) , so we are highly recommend to have cash on you
40$ per day for lunch and dinner ( ~350 $ dollars )
So you can bring cash in dollars (and change it there to Colombian peso , as much as you need it) just make sure that you have new dollar bills .

Or you can order colombia peso in you bank , so we don’t need to worry about it later

Once again : restaurants and most of the stores in city takes cards, you will need pesos for the market if you will get some gifts for your family and loved ones

The currency in Colombia is the Colombian peso, abbreviated as:
 • COP (international code)
 • $ (symbol used locally — don’t confuse it with US dollars)

Quick facts:
 • 1 USD ≈ 4,000 to 4,500 COP (rates fluctuate, so check the current rate before exchanging)
 • Common bills: $1,000, $2,000, $5,000, $10,000, $20,000, $50,000, and $100,000 pesos
 • Common coins: $50, $100, $200, $500, and $1,000 pesos

It’s helpful to have smaller bills, as many vendors (especially in rural areas) may not have change for large denominations.
CULTURAL TIPS
• Colombians are warm, polite, and proud of their country.
 • A few words of Spanish go a long way — say “Buenos días” and “Gracias”.
 • Try local food like arepas, bandeja paisa, and fresh juices.
 • Don’t joke about drugs or Pablo Escobar — it’s a sensitive topic.
IMPORTANT!
No vaccines required
Use bottled or filtered water outside big cities.
Mosquito protection is a must in lowland tropical areas.
Colombia has the same socket as the USA
If you get motion sickness (or even if you never have—some parts of the road are really curvy), you may need pills for it. We will have some available, but if you know you require a specific kind, please bring your own. Also, don’t forget to pack any other medications you might need during the trip!
